Birna Íris Jónsdóttir new CEO of Digital Iceland

Birna Íris Jónsdóttir has been appointed CEO of Digital Iceland.

Improving digital services is one of the top priorities of the Icelandic government with the aim of improving public service and being a global leader in digital services. The role of Digital Iceland is to support agencies and local governments on their digital journeys. Amont Digital Iceland's projects is to develop software solutions that support that role, as well as develop and operate Ísland.is, Ísland.is app, Ísland.is My pages and the Digital mailbox. Also to ensure the functioning of cross-border services in international cooperation. Digital Iceland is a working unit within the Ministry of Finance and Economic Affairs, but works across government, closely with ministries, institutions, and municipalities on digital reforms to ensure clear, simple, and fast communication.

On the 22nd of November Birna Íris Jónsdóttir will be joining the Digital Iceland team as CEO. Birna holds a B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from the University of Iceland, a MBA and studies towards a masters degree in Computer Science from Reykjavik University as well as a diploma in Positive Psycology. Birna has been working as a strategy and IT consultant during the last two years as well as teaching a masters course on Software Project Management at Reykjavik University. Prior to that she held positions as a Director of IT Operations and Security at Össur, IT and Digital strategy Manager at Hagar and IT Manager at Sjóvá.
