Elements of AI is a series of open online courses sponsored by the Icelandic government as a way to strengthen the knowledge of AI among the Icelandic people and increase the country's competitiveness. The course is a part of an action plan for Iceland in the fourth industrial revolution, focusing on building and sharing knowledge to counteract the division of people it groups of those how have or have not, know or don't know, understand or don't understand.

The main goals are:

• To make the knowledge accessible to all and therefore help people see opportunities instead of threats from new technology

• To empower the Icelandic people and to increase the country's competitiveness

• To build up skills and create opportunities for the Icelandic people

The online course is in 6 parts, in all 30 hours, and available to all anytime, anywhere, either on their desktop computers or mobile phones. The courses are designed to be accessible to most people, independent from age, experience or other factors. Elements of AI is an award winning course (including an award by MIT – Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and is ranked among the best of online computer science courses, above courses from educational institutions like Stanford, Harvard og MIT.
