Updated fines order for Covid-19
The Directorate of Public Prosecutions has issued new/updated instructions on violations of the Icelandic quarantine laws and rules issued on the basis of the Act.

The Directorate of Health has issued new/updated instructions on violations of the Icelandic quarantine laws and rules issued on the basis of the Act, cf. Article 19 of the Icelandic Centre for Disease Control Act, No. 19/1997, cf. Act No. 2/2021, in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, updating references to new decisions by the Minister of Health in this regard. These are Regulations Nos. 161/2021 and 190/2021. This order takes effect tomorrow.
The main amendments concern fines for violations of obligations upon arrival in Iceland, cf. Rules. 161/2021, i.e. a violation of the obligation to produce a negative PCR certificate, a violation of the obligation to undergo sampling at a border crossing point and a violation of the obligation to stay in a quarantine centre and the obligations that isolation entails.
It should be noted that the production of a false PCR certificate is subject to the provisions of Article 155 of the General Penal Code, No. 19/1940, and is therefore subject to prosecution.
Instructions from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, No. 1 of 2021, are available
