Risk of wildfires – be careful with fire

The Civil Protection Committee in East Iceland draws attention to the fact that there has been little rainfall in recent weeks and vegetation in many places is dry as a result.

The risk of wildfires has therefore increased in recent days. Residents and visitors to the quarter, for example in summer cottage areas where there is a lot of vegetation and vegetation cover, are therefore encouraged to be careful with fire. This includes ensuring that outdoor barbecues, especially disposable ones, do not pose a risk, that embers from cigars or cigarettes do not get into vegetation, and so on.

The website of the Icelandic Housing and Civil Engineering Institute contains an excellent presentation of what to keep in mind to prevent wildfires and the first response to them (in Icelandic).

Be careful with fire, always.
