Changes made to tax assessments for a limited group receiving payments from TR

During the review of tax returns, an error was identified in data received from the Social Insurance Administration (TR) affecting a limited number of individuals. As a result, changes to their tax assessments, as shown on their assessment notices, are necessary.

The assessments for most affected individuals have already been corrected, and notifications have been sent to their Digital Mailbox on Ísland.is. Updated information on outstanding balances or refunds is available on My Pages on Ísland.is under Finance.

Those who have not yet received a correction will receive one as soon as corrected data is received from TR.

A special notice has been added to the assessment notices of affected individuals, clearly stating that the issue applies to them. Notifications have also been sent to their Digital Mailbox on Ísland.is confirming either that the correction has been completed or that it will be made shortly.

I receive payments from TR. Does this apply to me?

The error only affected a limited number of individuals. If your assessment notice on Skatturinn’s service portal contains a special notice, this applies to you. If there is no notice at the top of your assessment notice, this does not apply to you.

I received a notification. Do I need to do anything?

No. We will send you the corrected assessment result as soon as it is available.

Will I owe more tax or receive a refund?

People affected by the error may either owe additional tax or receive a refund, depending on their individual circumstances. Updated information will be available on My Pages on Ísland.is as soon as you receive notification of the correction.
