Call for Applications: Strategic Research and Development Program (SRDP) for Natural Hazards
The Strategic Research and Development Program (SRDP) is a new initiative focused on research, development, and applied solutions concerning natural hazards in a broad context. Funding applications must be submitted by Thursday, 6 November 2025, at 15:00.
The objective of the SRDP for Natural Hazards is to better prepare the country and its people for natural disasters and extreme events, and to enable a strategic response. The program aims to foster an innovation-driven knowledge society by leveraging high-quality basic research and practical expertise to address challenges related to natural hazards, while promoting the dissemination of knowledge to both the public and government.
The SRDP Board emphasizes strengthening research, development, and practical application related to natural hazards across a wide range of contexts.
Examples of potential projects that align with these priorities include (but are not limited to):
Projects that expand knowledge and enhance the ability to predict natural hazards, such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, avalanches, mudslides, glacial floods, storms, extreme cold, flooding in marine and inland waters, wildfires, or epidemics.
Projects that strengthen resilience to natural hazards, including initiatives focused on prevention, mitigation, adaptation, follow-up actions, risk management, social, health, and cultural impacts, as well as policy development.
