On 14 and 15 June, a Well-being Economy Forum will take place in Harpa, but the Prime Minister's Office is organizing the congress in cooperation with the Directorate of Health and other parties. The congress will follow the World Health Organization's conference on health and prosperity, which took place between 1 and 2 March. In the opening address, Prime Minister Katrín Jakobsdóttir stated the importance of using other metrics than economic ones to measure well-being and prosperity. On this occasion, the Prime Minister also announced how the Icelandic government has developed welfare indicators to measure prosperity and quality of life in Iceland. At the upcoming Conference on Well-being, the next steps will be taken toward a prosperous society. The congress is thus a platform for further cooperation between the Nordic countries and other leading nations. The congress will be open to all and admission free of charge.
Recordings from the Nordic Public Health Conference and the European Conference on Positive Psychology
The International Congress on well-being that will be held this summer also builds on experience from previous conferences on well-being and prosperity. The Directorate of Health was responsible for the Nordic Public Health Conference in Harpa in late June last year, and at the same time, a European conference in positive psychology was held. Prosperity, well-being, public health, and happiness were discussed in lectures, panel discussions, and workshops. The conferences sought to answer questions such as why the Nordic nations are among the happiest nations in the world, how the results of research on well-being can be used to create a better and more sustainable world, and how well-being can be promoted in life, play, and work.
Recordings from the joint day of the conferences can be accessed on the conference website.
