Information Portal for the Total Eclipse Opened
A new information portal for the total eclipse on August 12 has been launched on Island.is.

A new information portal for the total eclipse on August 12 is now live on Island.is. The portal serves as a central hub for everything related to the eclipse, offering answers to people's most pressing questions: where is the best place to view it, when will it happen, and how to stay safe while watching. It also details if and where traffic restrictions will be implemented, including street closures in the capital area. Additionally, the site provides links to further resources, including emergency services and regional marketing offices that have been working with municipalities to prepare for the event.
The website will be updated regularly leading up to the eclipse. The public is encouraged to follow the guidelines published there to best prepare for the day. A steering committee appointed by the Prime Minister in March has been responsible for gathering this information.
On August 12, heavy strain can be expected on transportation networks, outdoor areas, and emergency services. Residents in the southwest corner of the country are in the unique position of being able to view the total eclipse right from their own homes. They are urged to take advantage of this opportunity and, by doing so, do their part to minimize traffic and ensure public safety.
