Action against violence in Westman Islands strengthened
Yesterday, a workshop was held in the Westman Islands entitled: Action against violence in the Westman Islands, where about 70 professionals participated.
The purpose of the workshop was to promote and expand the existing cooperation between the Chief of Police in the Westman Islands, the District Commissioner of the Westman Islands and the Westman Islands township in matters relating to the welfare and the rights of children, with a focus on the protection of children who have been victims of violence. The project has been an entrepreneurial project in developing regional consultation against violence at national level.
About the project
The new partnership project; Action against violence in the Westman Islands, is based on the earlier partnership and is intended to further develop regional consultation on violence and to bring more providers in the Westman Islands to cooperate.
The project will also involve the Healthcare Institution of South Iceland, the secondary school in the Westman Islands, the Westman Islands Sports Association and the ÍBV sports association. The involvement of the family and education department of the Westman Islands town will be much greater.
The objective of the project is that the institutions and systems of the state and municipalities, as well as the sports movement, work together to ensure and develop a foundation for crime prevention with common priorities and objectives developed from the regional situation as well as to ensure and develop a foundation for continued preventive cooperation between the parties and to strengthen cooperation in redress of cases, including under the law on success. The project will be led by the Chief of Police in the Westman Islands.
Declaration of cooperation
At the conclusion of the workshop, a declaration of cooperation on regional consultations against violence and other crimes in the Westman Islands was signed.
It was signed by: Arndís Bára Ingimarsdóttir, appointed police chief in the Westman Islands, Kristín Þórðardóttir, appointed district commissioner in the Westman Islands, Íris Róbertsdóttir, mayor, Jóna Björgvinsdóttir f.h. of the South Iceland Health Institute, Ingibjörg Jónsdóttir f.h. of the Westman Islands Secondary School, Gunnar Páll Hálfdánsson, chairman of the Westman Islands Sports Association and Ellert Scheving, director of the ÍBV Sports Association.
