Landowners and leaseholders (farmers) can apply for a grant for land reclamation projects on their homelands in cooperation with Land and Forest Iceland.
A grant is provided for consultancy and purchase of seedlings and fertilisers.
Conditions
The land area must meet the following conditions:
Disrupted vegetation cover.
Sheep grazing is moderate, as assessed by Land and Forest Iceland advisors.
Employees of Land and Forest Iceland assess whether the proposed area meets qualifications criteria.
You can ask for further consultancy at the nearest Land and Forest Iceland office.
Supporting data
The application must be accompanied by a description of the procedure which includes:
Objectives of the project.
Description of the area, as well as, for example, photographs, drawings or panoramic pictures of the area.
Vision.
When an application is accepted
When an application is approved, cooperation between the landowner and Land and Forest Iceland can begin.
Role of Land and Forest Iceland
Advises and guides with the methods of land reclamation.
Provides subsidies.
Seed supply if necessary.
Role of farmers
The farmer or landowner is responsible for the execution of the project and the subsequent submission of a project report.
