Seafarers' medical certificate

The Icelandic law stipulates that all persons who are part of the minimum staff of ships should be physically and mentally competent to perform the duties they are assigned to perform. For example, those in the navigational bridge and in the engine room of a ship must meet certain requirements for sight, hearing and physical and mental health.

Only qualified doctors may issue these medical certificates regarding sight, hearing and health (STCW).
