Issuance of aviation licences in Iceland
The Icelandic Transport Authority is responsible for issuing aviation licences, approves training related to them and supervises approved and declared training organizations (ATO/DTO) as well as airline training.
All aviation licences issued in Iceland are in accordance with the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO Annex 1). In addition, the following certificates are subject to pan-European rules implemented on the basis of the EEA Agreement:
Air traffic controller licences
Aeronautical engineer's licences
Pilot's licenses for airplanes, helicopters, gliders, light aircraft and powered lift aircraft.
All Part-FCL licenses issued/reissued by the Icelandic Transport Authority after 5. December 2018 contain the note "This license is automatically validated as per the ICAO attachment to this licence". The attachment referred to in the note is available on the EASA website. Flight crews who operate aircraft registered in another EASA country can print out the attachment and present it during ramp inspections if required.
