What is the difference between a supplement for buying a car and a grant for buying a car?

A supplement to buy a car is 500.000 ISKand the grant to buy a car is 2.000.000 ISK. The same application is for both but the amount you receive is determined by the mobility impairment assessment. You can apply on My pages.

To receive a supplement for a car purchase you must be:

  • assessed as having a reduced mobility, based on the average walking capacity of less than 400 metres on a level surface;

  • pensioner with TR

To receive a grant to buy a car, you must be:

  • assessed as having severe mobility problems, for example, use a wheelchair or two crutches regularly
