The amounts of the holiday and December bonuses depend on income, entitlement ratio and the number of months in the year for which the person is entitled to an allowance.
The maximum holiday and December bonuses for 2026 are:
Individuals receiving a new medical- and rehabilitation allowance: ISK 137,857.
Holiday and December bonuses are reduced by 2% of income exceeding the general exemption limit for the relevant allowance category.
The general exemption limits are:
ISK 504,960 for the new medical- and rehabilitation allowance.
The entitlement ratio for the new medical- and rehabilitation allowance is always 100%.
The amount of the holiday and December bonuses is calculated in proportion to the number of months in the year for which the person is entitled to an allowance.
Example
An individual receiving a new medical- and rehabilitation allowance for 8 months in 2026 with an annual income of ISK 2,500,000.
