How much do I get refunded for travel costs?

There is no full refund; each trip has a patient portion of a maximum of 1,500 ISK.

From the total cost of a flight, the patient portion is deducted by 1,500 ISK. If you travel by private vehicle more than 20 kilometers to get on a flight, that cost is added to the total cost of the trip, but the patient portion will not be higher.

When traveling by private vehicle, a kilometre fee is paid per kilometre travelled and depends on distance for each patient segment on the trip. It will never be higher than 1,500 ISK.

The per-mile charge is 40,16 ISK, but changes in proportion to the driving fee for government employees, according to the travel expenses committee’s advertisement at each time.
