Directorate of Immigration: Complaints, refusals, refusals of entry and expulsions
What is the effect of a re-entry ban?
If you have received a re-entry ban following expulsion, you are not authorized to return to Iceland, either within a certain period of time, or permanently. In general, a re-entry ban is issued for two years.
Expulsion and re-entry bans for non-EEA or EFTA citizens are usually registered in the Schengen Information System. Therefore, the re-entry ban also applies to the territory of all Schengen countries, unless you have a special authorization for entry into a certain country.
Please note that if you have been expulsed and banned from re-entry following the refusal of your application for international protection, the re-entry ban will be suspended if you leave the country voluntarily within a the deadline given in your decision.
