Can an employer request an accident report submitted by them?

The AOSH is not authorized to hand over accident reports to anyone other than the persons they cover, as they contain sensitive personal information. This applies even if the employer who reported the accident is requesting it. The injured person can download the report on island.is

It should be noted that employers are required to keep a record of:
– all workplace accidents, regardless of whether they result in absence from work
– incidents that could have caused accidents

The purpose of this requirement is to provide the employer with an overview of workplace accidents and incidents occurring at the workplace. Accidents or near misses may, in many cases, indicate that the risk of harm is greater than previously assumed. The employer is required to review the workplace’s risk assessment when an accident or incident occurs and update it if necessary.
