Estate guardianship certificates
Estate guardianship certificates confirm that the person in question has control over their estate.
Estate guardianship certificates are issued by the district courts. In cases where an applicant's estate is undergoing bankruptcy proceedings or if further information is required, the district court where the person has their legal domicile must be contacted.
The certificate costs ISK 2,500 to issue.
Please note that the certificate will appear in the final step of the application, not in the applicant's mailbox.

Application process
Individuals
Company
When applying in the name of a company, the company's proxy holder must apply. Information on proxy registration is available from the Directorate of Taxes.
Please note that if you are applying on behalf of a company, the company's authorised signatory must submit the application. Information on authorised signatory registration can be obtained from the Iceland Revenue and Customs (Skatturinn).
Edition
The certificates are issued by the regional courts in Iceland.
Bankruptcy
In cases where the applicant's residence is subject to bankruptcy proceedings or where further information is required, contact the district court where the person concerned has his/her legal domicile.
