Children's trips abroad

Issuing of passports for children

Approval for the issuance of a passport for a child

When applying for a passport for a child under the age of 18, both guardians shall attend, if appropriate, together with the child, in order to apply for the child's passport.

If another guardian of a child is unable to attend, he/she shall write his/her certified consent on the above form. If the child is under the custody of others than the parents, their consent shall be subject to the same procedure.

If a guardian has sole custody of a child, his signature is sufficient for application and the National Registry of Iceland confirms that the person in question has sole custody.
