Authorisation and access control on Ísland.is

You can give others access to your data through the Ísland.is Authorisation system. It is called granting others a mandate. The person who receives the mandate can access data on the behalf of the the mandate provider.

Authorised signatories of companies, people who have access to the data of a legal entity, can also empower others to view these data.

Two ways to give a mandate

1. Grant an authorization electronically through My pages

  1. You log in with your personal electronic ID

    • If you want to grant a access for a company, you will need to switch to the company's account. This is done by clicking on your name in the upper right corner, select Switch user and select the company.

  2. Select Access Control either on the cover or by clicking on Overview in the right corner.

  3. You can choose who you want to access, what system components and how long the access is to be active.

Authorised signatories of companies can also choose to give others rights to control access to the data they themselves have access to, for example, so that the staff of accounting offices can give their colleagues access. This is done by selecting the person who should have rights, clicking on Access Control and selecting the system components that they should be able to see and access.

2. Granting a mandate on paper

Individuals who do not have electronic ID and cannot empower others through My pages, can get the agent (the person who is receiving the empowerment) to apply by submitting a completed form.

Once you have printed, filled in and signed the form in the presence of witnesses, the person who receives the mandate (the agent) can submit it electronically.
