The Icelandic Transport Authority has now published the first version of the Icelandic Performance Plan for the reference period 2020-2024. Key performance indicators (KPI) were defined for each of these categories.
safety
the environment
performance
cost-effectiveness
The purpose of the performance plan is to support the sustainability of aviation and to contribute to the long-term improvement of air navigation performance in terms of effectiveness and optimal use of airspace, capacity, cost-efficiency and air pollution resulting from aviation. The plan must be approved by the Minister.
This first version of the performance plan did not define performance targets and there is a reference period 0 (Reference Period 0) to that end. The collection of data for the period is intended to permit targets to be set for Reference period 1, when information is available on the actual performance of defined performance indicators.
The scope of the performance plan is the airspace in Iceland and the Icelandic Transport Authority has consulted the main stakeholders in the preparation of the plan.
It is worth mentioning that the plan was published on 1 January and does not address the latest aviation challenges, Covid-19. As has been mentioned earlier, this performance plan is discussed as reference period 0. The Icelandic Transport Authority encourages stakeholders to send comments to the authority and/or suggestions for the continued development of the programme for reference period 1.
