The programme – courses and practical training – is in Icelandic.

A two-year theoretical and professional 120 ECTS programme for applicants who have completed a Bachelor's degree in an upper secondary school subject and want to qualify as teachers at upper secondary level.

Four core courses in teaching, 40 ECTS, are campus based and must all be completed within the same academic year. Students attend weekly classes as well as doing practical studies at the field. Practical training is integrated with the academic studies in core courses.

All students will be allocated a “homeschool” for their practical training. Students attend weekly meetings or activities in their homeschool, in addition to practical training of about 60 hours over the academic year. The practical training takes place during working hours of each school with notice of the university time table. All parts of practical training are mandatory.
