Save travel - driving in Iceland
The Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration (IRCA) provides information on driving conditions and the weather by telephone, 1777 (open every day between 6:30 – 22:00).
Road maps and geographic data are available from the National Land Survey of Iceland.
Off-road driving is prohibited. Driving off-road and off marked trails can cause considerable and irrevocable damage to the environment. Damage to vehicles caused by off-road driving or costs resulting from accidents when driving off road will not be compensated by insurance companies.
