The Icelandic Met Office will be closely monitoring weather forecasts in the lead-up to the total solar eclipse and has launched a dedicated website for the event.

The website provides access to local weather forecasts, general weather outlooks, cloud cover forecasts, and updates from the weather watch. It also features a wide range of information about the eclipse, including webcam feeds, eclipse timing information, guidance on how to observe the eclipse safely, and links to other organisations involved in the preparations.

As previously advised, people within the path of totality are encouraged to observe the eclipse from their local area whenever possible, helping to reduce pressure on key infrastructure.

Those planning to travel should allow extra time for their journeys and be prepared for traffic delays both en route to their destination and on the return trip. Visitors are also strongly encouraged to familiarise themselves with guidance on protecting their eyesight and to use appropriate eye protection when viewing the eclipse.
