The Financial Management Authority is currently working on developing a new solution in cooperation with Advania, Reiknistofa Bankanna (RB), and the Central Bank of Iceland. This solution enables payments made in online banking to be simultaneously recorded in both the government’s collection system and on Ísland.is.

This means that services can be provided immediately upon payment of claims — for example, the issuance of a debt clearance certificate, vehicle ownership transfer, or various types of permits — without the payer having to wait until the next business day to receive the service.
Initially, this change will cover about 80% of claims issued by the public sector. Additionally, this change will allow customers to pay claims not only through online banking but also directly on Ísland.is, where the claim is automatically cleared in both systems as soon as it is paid.
