Akra
The government planning system, Akra, simplifies and standardises planning processes across institutions and supports improved oversight and decision-making. The system was introduced in 2018 with the aim of streamlining the preparation of operating plans and improving workflows through consistent, digital solutions.
Institutions use Akra to develop plans for how they allocate and use their financial appropriations. These plans form the basis for operating budgets and show how activities are organised in line with approved funding and organisational objectives.
Akra supports the entire planning process, from initial planning and forecasting to the submission of data to ministries. The system provides a clear overview of the status and development of plans and enables structured follow-up.
The Financial Management Authority (Fjársýslan) operates the system and provides guidance and information to users.
Akra is based on IBM Planning Analytics, a planning and analytics tool that supports budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis using shared and consistent data.
