In 2024, the Office of the Debtors' Ombudsman continued its important role of supporting individuals in financial difficulties and providing them with a realistic way out of financial difficulties. The financial environment of households remained demanding. High interest rates, high housing costs and rising prices of essential goods affected the finances of many. Although economic prospects were in many places considered to be improving and inflation showed signs of easing, a large group of individuals and families still experienced considerable uncertainty about their financial future and continued to feel the effects of high interest rates and high living costs.
