The seminar will include a wide range of contributions from national and international experts.
13:00 – Opening remarks by Helga Þórisdóttur, the Commissioner of the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, addresses the attendees. An address will also be made by Anu Talus, Chair of the European Data Protection Board.
13:15 – Lost in the maze of regulations – where is the exit and what is the purpose? Lára Herborg Ólafsdóttir, lawyer and owner of the law firm Lex, discusses the challenges companies and institutions face in complying with the rules and how to solve the complexities of regulation.
13:45 – Geopolitics, Innovation, and Data Protection as a Force for Good. Eduardo Ustaran, Head of Data Protection and Cyber Security at Hogan Lovells in London, discusses how artificial intelligence and international cooperation can support data protection and innovation in an age of uncertainty in international politics. The message will be delivered in English.
14:15 – Coffee break
14:30 - Prevention of cyber security: a key aspect of personal data security Gudrún Valdís Jónsdóttir, director of the Syndis consulting division, discusses the importance of cyber security and practical solutions to ensure the security of personal data and data.
15:00 - Fundamental rights and AI - how do we analyse legal issues? Dr. Gunnar Þór Pétursson, President of the Faculty of Law at the University of Reykjavík, looks at how AI and legislation overlap, with a focus on the new EU AI Act.
15:30 – Questions and answers. Visitors will have the opportunity to submit questions to the lecturer.
15:45 – Summary and closing statements. The seminar concludes with a summary and closing statements.
