The Data Protection Authority has forwarded matters concerning unsolicited electronic communications and a potential violation of the Telecommunications Act No. 70/2022 to the Electronic Communications Office of Iceland, in accordance with Article 7, Paragraph 2 of the Administrative Procedures Act No. 37/1993.

Furthermore, the Data Protection Authority has initiated own-initiative investigations into the processing of personal data in connection with the aforementioned national referendum, involving all political parties represented in Althingi as well as the organizations Já 2026 (SJÁ) and Áfram Ísland.
