Three meetings on data protection in the technology and intellectual property sector in the coming months
5th October 2026
The Federation of Icelandic Industries (SI) and the Icelandic Data Protection Authority are preparing three meetings for companies in the technology and intellectual property sector over the coming months. The aim is to foster dialogue on data protection, innovation and good practices in the development and use of new technological solutions.

Representatives of SI and the Icelandic Data Protection Authority recently met to discuss how innovation and the development of technological solutions can be supported while at the same time safeguarding data protection and users’ rights.
Open dialogue and practical guidance
The three meetings are intended to provide a forum for open dialogue between companies and the Icelandic Data Protection Authority, strengthen mutual understanding and promote the sharing of good practices.
The focus will be on practical guidance and the real-world challenges faced by companies, including the implementation of data protection rules under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Through increased dialogue and knowledge-sharing, the aim is to strengthen companies’ understanding of data protection and contribute to greater predictability in its practical application.
First meeting in November
The first meeting is planned for November. It will be followed by educational sessions and/or workshops where companies will have an opportunity to raise questions and share their experiences.
Further information on the dates, programmes and participation in the three meetings will be announced at a later date.
Through this series of meetings, SI and the Icelandic Data Protection Authority aim to contribute to a clearer and more predictable environment for companies in the technology and intellectual property sector, where innovation and the responsible processing of personal data can go hand in hand.
