Helsinki Declaration by the European Data Protection Board

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) issued a statement of greater clarity, support and participation.

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has issued a statement on increased clarity, support and engagement, which emphasises increased consultation with stakeholders and actions that will facilitate parties to meet the requirements of the Data Protection Regulation.
The statement introduces measures aimed at facilitating compliance with the Data Protection Regulation, particularly for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), measures to promote greater coordination of the application of the Regulation and measures to strengthen the interaction between the Regulation and other regulations.
Actions include the development and coordination of templates for common documents, checklists, guidelines and answers to common questions to help companies and organisations to meet their obligations under the Data Protection Regulation.
The aim of the measures is to strengthen the activities of micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and to increase innovation and competitiveness in Europe. The EDPB stresses that the role of data protection is an important part of upholding European values and fundamental rights of individuals.
