EDPB publishes draft guidelines for the use of pseudonymisation and strengthens cooperation with competition authorities

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has adopted a new draft of guidelines on the use of pseudonymisation to help companies meet the requirements of the GDPR.

The European Data Protection Board (EDPB) has adopted a new draft guidlines on the use of pseudonymisation to help companies meet the requirements of the GDPR. The draft clarifies how the use of pseudonymisation can reduce risk, improve security of personal data and contribute to more effective protection of personal data. The Board also adopted an opinion on the relationship between data protection and competition law, with a focus on increased cooperation between regulators. The aim is to ensure consistent enforcement of legislation and increase protection of individuals in the changing digital environment. Comments on the draft may be submitted until 28 February 2025.
