Vísindavaka (e. Science Night)
Vísindavaka in Iceland is part of the European Researchers' Night, which is an event organised every year during the last weekend of September, with an event in around 340 towns and cities all over Europe!
At Vísdindavaka (e. Science Night), the public is invited to a true science festival, where some of the country's leading scientists present and explain their research and innovation in a lively and interactive manner.
Rannís organizes Science Night in Iceland in cooperation with Icelandic universities and research institutions. Science Night has also received grants in recent years through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions under the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation program.
The goal of Science Night is, among other things, to raise awareness about the importance of research and scientific work in modern society. This is done through live demonstrations and fun, educational events for the whole family. All fields of science are presented at Science Night — humanities as well as natural sciences.
