Travel grants for the Arctic Circle Assembly 2026 – open to applicants from Norway

Applications are now open for travel grants to attend the Arctic Circle Assembly in Reykjavík on 8–10 October 2026, and related Arctic events taking place in Iceland in the days surrounding the conference.

The grants are awarded under Arctic Research and Studies (ARS), the bilateral Iceland–Norway programme in the field of Arctic studies. Five to seven grants are available to researchers and experts on Arctic affairs who are affiliated with a Norwegian institution or organisation.

Each grant covers the conference registration fee, an economy-class return airfare between Norway and Iceland, and accommodation in Reykjavík, to a maximum of EUR 3,500. Grants are paid as a lump sum after the Assembly, against proof of travel and of participation.

Apply for travel grants

The grants are awarded in accordance with Article 5.2 Travel Grants of the 2023–2026 Arctic Research and Studies Programme Guideline. Their objective is to encourage scientific cooperation between higher education institutions and research organisations in Norway and Iceland in the field of Arctic science.

  • The application deadline is September 8, 2026 at 16:00 Norwegian time (14:00 in Iceland).

  • Applicants will be notified of the outcome by September 11.
