This year, there is a special emphasis on ambitious research in the field of ageing, in line with the priorities of the fund's board and government policy.
Five one-year research grants will be awarded to research groups working on studies related to ageing. The maximum amount for each grant is ISK 15 million, plus up to ISK 5 million for overheads and facilities, meaning the total grant can amount to up to ISK 20 million.
The Health Sciences Fund's role is to promote research in health sciences, ranging from basic sciences to public health and clinical research. With this year's focus on ageing, we are calling for robust research projects that can increase knowledge in this increasingly important area of health sciences.
The application deadline is 1 October 2026 at 15:00 Icelandic time. Applications must be submitted electronically through the Rannís application system.
The Health Sciences Fund is a competitive fund under the authority of the Minister of Health and is managed by Rannís. Applications are professionally assessed based on, among other things, the scientific merit of the projects, the competence and facilities of the applicants, and the likelihood that the projects will yield measurable results and benefits.
