Polish-Icelandic cultural cooperation, 17 study visits funded

18th May 2026

The EEA Grants Culture Programme in Poland recently announced the allocation of bilateral grants for study visits in the field of culture.

The application deadline was this past February. A total of 247 applications were received, and 58 parties were awarded grants. Of these, 17 projects are related to Polish-Icelandic cooperation, which is considered an excellent result.

Study visits of this kind are often the first step toward further international cooperation and can become the foundation for larger collaborative projects later on. A call for applications for grants for larger bilateral cultural projects will be announced this summer, with the application deadline at the end of September. A condition is that the project must be led by Poles.

The grants cover 12 participating Icelandic institutions and associations. The proportion of projects with Icelandic participation amounts to about 30% of the study visits that were approved. The following Icelandic parties are participating in the funded study visits:

  • Moon – Austan mána ehf.

  • Harpa

  • City of Reykjavík – Department of Culture and Tourism

  • Snæfellsnes – Regional Museum

  • The National Theatre of Iceland

  • Samfélag fyrir ÖLL (A Society for ALL)

  • City of Reykjavík – Department of Education and Youth

  • Iceland University of the Arts

  • The Tango Club

  • Sagnheimar Folk Museum

  • Reykjavík Jazz Festival

  • Skógar Museum

The results reflect the strong cultural cooperation between Iceland and Poland and an increased interest in international collaboration among Icelandic cultural institutions and creative industries.
