Icelandic film and television projects receive over 1.2 million euros from Creative Europe MEDIA

Icelandic film and television projects have achieved impressive results in the Creative Europe MEDIA allocations for 2025. In total, four Icelandic projects and entities received grants amounting to €1,740,000, which is equivalent to approximately 260 million Icelandic krónur.

Hot Stuff receives a €500,000 production grant

The production company Glassriver has been awarded a €500,000 production grant for the television series Hot Stuff.

The project is a co-production between Glassriver in Iceland and the Romanian production company IDEA Film and has attracted attention on the international stage.

The Death of a Horse receives a €500,000 TV and Online Content grant

Sameinuðu íslensku Kvikmyndaveldin receives a €500,000 TV and Online Content grant for the project The Death of a Horse.

The grant supports the development and production of the work and increases its potential for international distribution.

Development grant for two new projects

The production company S101 receives a €90,000 development grant (Mini-Slate) for the projects Paradox and Shadowline.

Such grants are awarded for the development of more than one project simultaneously, thereby strengthening the long-term development of production companies.

RIFF receives a grant for its film festival

The Reykjavík International Film Festival (RIFF) has been awarded a €150,000 grant from Creative Europe MEDIA.

The grant will be split equally between 2025 and 2026 and will support the continued operation of the festival, which has for years been one of the most important platforms for international film culture in Iceland.

The success of Icelandic projects in MEDIA in 2025 demonstrates the strong position of Icelandic film and television production in Europe. The grants support innovation, international collaboration, and increased visibility of Icelandic content in foreign markets.
