Further information:

A high fever can be a sign of an infection that could be transmitted through a blood transfusion. Therefore it is important to wait two weeks to reduce the chance of that happening.

There is no data to suggest that common colds or upper respiratory tract infections are transmitted with blood, but it is still important to wait until symptoms have disappeared before donating blood.
