User Terms for Réttindagátt

These are the terms that apply to the use and access of Iceland Healths Réttindagátt. These terms will apply to the user once the person has agreed to them.

  1. Use of Réttindagátt

    1. Réttindagátt is a “my pages” for individuals who communicate with the Iceland Health about their issues.

    2. The purpose of Réttindagátt is to share information and data concerning rights and payments from Iceland Health in a secure manner. Also for users to send data and queries to the Iceland Health in a secure manner.

  2. Login to Réttindagátt

    1. When logging into Réttindagátt, the login service Ísland.is is used.

    2. If a user becomes aware in any way that an unauthorized party has accessed the above information, the user shall immediately contact the electronic ID issuer and request that the relevant ID be blocked in order to prevent it from being misused by unauthorized parties in Réttindagátt.

    3. Please familiarize yourself with the terms of Ísland.is which can be accessed on their website.

  3. Users’ obligations

    1. The user undertakes to use Réttindagátt in such a way that use does not violate the provisions of these terms.

    2. The user is responsible for the correct recording of his/her user information, including e-mail address and telephone number, in Réttindagátt.

    3. The user is responsible for the content and content of documents that the person sends to Iceland Health. In the case of information that originates from a non-user, the person is responsible for its accuracy.

    4. The user's right to access and use Réttindagátt is tied to a kennitala and the user may not transfer this right to another person or legal entity.

    5. The user must take the necessary precautions to ensure personalised security features when logging in and using Réttindagátt.

  4. Categories of information

    1. Your Réttindagátt contains the following information, in whole or in part, about your issues:

      1. User information: Name, ID number, address, e-mail address, telephone number.

      2. Business information: Bank information, electronic registration of a personal tax credit (tax card).

      3. Delivering letters, decisions, payment documents and business statements in connection with applications/payment participation, among other things, for accident insurance, assistive devices and nutrients, pharmaceutical costs, physical therapy, dental costs, medical treatment in Iceland, medical treatment abroad, patient insurance, sickness compensation, travel costs in Iceland.

      4. Payment forms and payment statements for the healthcare participation system.

      5. A drug licence, payment facility and a drug payment calculator for the drug payment system.

      6. Registration of the dentist and general practitioner.

      7. The European Health Insurance Card.

      8. Information on health insurance.

      9. Case documents in connection with individual cases/applications that you have requested to be sent to Réttindagátt.

  5. Use of contact information

    1. Iceland Health uses e-mail addresses and phone numbers registered in Réttindagátt or on applications or other data sent to the institution by the user for the following purposes:

      1. Send notifications of new letters to Réttindagátt.

      2. communicate with users on their issues or in connection with other statutory tasks of the institution, including for the implementation of the service surveys that Iceland Health is charged with in connection with the monitoring of the quality and safety of health services.

  6. Electronic communication

    1. Iceland Health is intent on increasing electronic services, promoting an improved environment and safety in communication with users. All documents that Iceland Health sends users are published in Réttindagátt. As soon as documents appear in Réttindagátt, a notification is sent to the user by e-mail if the user has registered an e-mail address in Réttindagátt or to his digital mailbox on Ísland.is.

    2. If a user does not want to receive notifications to his/her email address about new documents in Réttindagátt, then the user can change that under Settings.

  7. Security and retention times

    1. Appropriate technical and organisational measures have been taken to ensure the security of information contained in Réttindagátt. Réttindagátt is protected through a web-selling service and all communications are encrypted.

    2. Information in Réttindagátt is stored for an unspecified period of time.

  8. Iceland Health obligations

    1. Réttindagátt is the controller of the information contained in Réttindagátt. In the case of information originating from a person other than Iceland Health, the person is responsible for its accuracy. The processing of personal data in Réttindagátt complies with the provisions of Article 50 of Act No. 112/2008 on health insurance, the provisions of the Act on Personal Data Protection and the Processing of Personal Data No. 90/2018 and with the Act No. 97/1997 on the Rights of Patients, when applicable. All information in Réttindagátt is treated as confidential. See Iceland Healths privacy policy on the website of the institution.

  9. Other

    1. Iceland Health reserves the right to review these terms without special notice or warning.

    2. In the event of a user's breach of these terms, Iceland Health reserves the right to block a user's access to Réttindagátt and demand compensation or use other lawful remedies for damages that Iceland Health or the institution's customers may suffer as a result of the breach.

    3. Data and information in Réttindagátt may contain personal data, including sensitive ones. If data has been received by the wrong recipient, the person concerned must remain as confidential as possible and inform Iceland Health. The data may not be registered with the user or used in any way, see Act No. 70/2022 on Electronic Communications. If the user has been aware of this, the person responsible for the Data Protection shall immediately inform Iceland Health through the email address personuvernd@sjukra.is

It should be noted that all of the activity of Réttindagátt is moving to Mínar síður and today all the general status of an individual is entered there under Health.
