The north entrance at Vestmannaeyjar Hospital is open again.
16th January 2026
The entrance on the north side of Vestmannaeyjar Hospital has reopened after being closed for several months due to construction work. During that time, the area outside the entrance was resurfaced with asphalt and utility lines were replaced.

It is once again possible to access the second and third floors of the building through the north entrance.
The northern entrance provides access to the hospital’s second and third floors. The second floor houses internal medicine services and a day hospital/outpatient clinic, while the third floor accommodates physiotherapy services, health information specialists, midwives, psychologists, and other specialists.
With these changes, through-traffic across the entire building has been closed off, contributing to a clearer separation of services and more purposeful management of movement within the hospital.
The basement entrance on the south side of the building will continue to be reserved exclusively for primary healthcare services.
“We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the hospital’s neighbors, our patients, and staff for their patience and understanding while the construction work was underway. We are excited to be able to offer improved access for those visiting the second or third floors,” says Jóna Björgvinsdóttir, Operations Manager of HSU in Vestmannaeyjar.
