The Project and Quality Manager leads a diverse range of initiatives within the quality team, which is at the forefront of the organization's improvement efforts. The team conducts systematic process analyses in close collaboration with managers and staff. The role involves continuously reviewing work practices with the aim of simplifying workflows, reducing unnecessary burden, and making better use of time and human resources.
The position is highly varied, reflecting the broad scope of healthcare services provided by HSU. Quality management is not solely about rules and oversight; it is about creating a culture in which employees actively participate in improvement efforts and are given opportunities to contribute their ideas and expertise.
Changing practices that have been in place for a long time can be challenging. However, HSU’s quality improvement and development work has strengthened significantly in recent years through robust support services and strong collaboration across the organization throughout the region. Inga adds:
"Success can only be achieved when everyone works together toward a common goal, and we see a strong commitment among our staff to make good work even better."
According to Inga, few things are as rewarding as seeing major projects succeed and the benefits become clearly visible.
"For example, over the past few months we have facilitated workshops with several units. That work generated more than 200 improvement suggestions from employees themselves, many of which have already been implemented or processed. The goal is to increase job satisfaction, simplify workflows, and make our services even more efficient."
As an organization committed to continuous improvement, HSU places great emphasis on incident reporting and views it as an opportunity to learn and improve. Inga explains that it is important for all incidents to be reported, regardless of who caused them or how serious they may seem. By documenting incidents, the organization can learn from them and help prevent similar events from recurring.
"Improvement work never ends, and that is exactly what makes it so rewarding. Through continuous improvement, we can increase efficiency, reduce unnecessary burdens, and promote greater job satisfaction. This creates more space for our staff to focus on what matters most: delivering safe and outstanding healthcare services."
