New Year’s Eve is not a business day
16th December 2025
It is important to keep in mind that New Year’s Eve is no longer considered a business day, and all payments that need to be booked before year-end must be carried out no later than December 30.
According to an announcement from Seðlabanki Íslands earlier this year, December 31 is no longer regarded as a business day, whereas until now it had been considered one until noon.
Payments amounting to ISK 10,000,000 or more must be executed before 16:15 on December 30. Interest may be added to the amount if payments are made on December 31.
