List of certified journeymen on Ísland.is

A new list of certified journeymen has been published on Ísland.is. This is the first time such a list has been made publicly available in one central location. The list allows you to see if tradesmen offering their services have the required certifications.
A list like this is very important as it makes it easy to access information about who has valid professional certifications and possesses expertise. It is based on a database covering 42 trades. Among them are diverse fields such as baking, automotive mechanics, sheet metal work, aircraft mechanics, carpentry, butchery, photography, cooking, painting, masonry, plumbing, printing, electrical work, cosmetology, and mechanical engineering.
Not all older data has been processed yet, but this information is expected soon.
The database is part of government efforts to improve the framework for vocational and professional education. It is a collaborative project between the Ministry of Education and Children, the Ministry of Higher Education, Industry, and Innovation, the Ministry of Justice, and the district commissioners.
The District Commissioner of South Iceland will manage the database from January 1, 2025.
