Gallup conducts the survey, and responses are collected this spring. We encourage those who receive an invitation to participate by answering the questionnaire. Good participation is essential to obtain reliable information on the status of health literacy in Iceland, providing a foundation for future work.

The European project JA PreventNCD

The Directorate of Health participates in an extensive European Joint Action, JA PreventNCD, whose main goal is to prevent non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, cancer, and cardiovascular diseases. One aspect of the project focuses on social inequalities in health, and one of the tasks is to improve health literacy. Part of this work involves participating in an international network that measures health literacy (M-POHL) under the auspices of the World Health Organization's Office for Europe. Its goal is, among other things, to measure public health literacy.
