On 1 September, Lífsbrú - Centre for Suicide Prevention awarded a team and an individual for their notable contribution to suicide prevention in Iceland, enhancing understanding of the subject and promoting better health and wellbeing across the nation.

The awards were presented at the formal opening of the Yellow September awareness campaign, held at the Vitatorg Community Centre. This year, Yellow September focuses on older people, making it appropriate to hold the event at this venue for seniors.
The opening was well attended and featured a diverse programme. Speeches were delivered by Heiða Björg Hilmisdóttir, Mayor of Reykjavík, María Heimisdóttir, Medical Director of Health, and Alma Möller, Minister of Health. Kristján Kristjánsson (KK) provided the music, and Birna Róbertsdóttir, Director of Borgir, a social and cultural centre, gave a talk titled The Joy of Ageing. Anna Margrét Bjarnadóttir, Project Manager for Yellow September, and President Halla Tómasdóttir concluded the programme with a discussion on mental health and suicide prevention.
