Vaccination against flu for the 2025–2026 season
24th September 2025
The influenza vaccine will be available for delivery from the distributor starting October 9
The vaccine to be used during the 2025–2026 influenza vaccination campaign, according to agreements between the Chief Epidemiologist and Vistor, is:
Vaxigrip – 90,000 doses, based on the 2019 tender agreement and subsequent amendments in 2021.
As in previous years, distribution will be prioritized during the initial weeks to nursing homes and healthcare institutions that vaccinate high-risk groups. Vaccination of these priority groups is expected to begin across the country in early October. Others allocated vaccine doses—such as those administering workplace vaccinations—can expect to receive them later in October.
Distribution of vaccine doses to providers will be based on the quantities ordered last winter, unless otherwise specified in communication with the Chief Epidemiologist.
The Chief Epidemiologist recommends that the following high-risk groups be given priority for influenza vaccination:
All individuals aged 60 and older
All children born between January 1, 2021 and June 30, 2025, who are at least 6 months old at the time of vaccination.
All children and adults with chronic heart, lung, kidney, or liver diseases, obesity, diabetes, cancer, or other immunocompromising conditions.
Pregnant women.
Healthcare workers who care for individuals in the above risk groups.
Individuals at occupational risk for co-infection with seasonal and avian influenza, as outlined in the 2023 advisory.
The vaccine is provided free of charge to individuals in these high-risk groups.
