The vaccine that will be used in vaccinations in the winter of 2024–2025 to the Chief Epidemiologist's contracts with Vistor is Vaxigrip Tetra, 90,000 doses.

As in previous years, distribution will be prioritized to nursing homes and healthcare institutions that vaccinate priority groups in the first few weeks. Vaccination of priority groups is expected to begin all over the country in early October, but others who receive vaccine will receive it later in October, including those who carry out general workplace vaccinations.

The distribution of vaccines is based on the quantity ordered or registered for use during last winter unless otherwise stated in the communication between the Chief Epidemiologist and the vaccination controller.

The Chief Epidemiologist recommends that the following risk groups should be given priority during influenza vaccinations:

  • All individuals 60 years and older.

  • All children born 1.1.2020–30.6.2024, who have reached 6 months of age when vaccinated.

  • All children and adults who suffer from chronic heart, lung, kidney and liver disease, obesity, diabetes, malignancies and other immunosuppressive diseases.

  • Pregnant women.

  • Healthcare professionals who care for individuals in risk groups listed above.

People at risk for contracting annual influenza and avian influenza co-infection.

The vaccine is free of charge to priority groups.
