Alma D Möller, Minister of Health, awarded grants from the fund to 112 projects. A variety of projects were supported throughout the country, intended for all age groups, with special emphasis on the public health challenges faced by young people this year. Emphasis was also placed on supporting actions aimed, among other things, at promoting mental health, enhancing social skills, and reducing loneliness. In addition, projects emphasising alcohol, drug, and tobacco prevention, nutrition, physical activity, and sexual health also received funding. When assessing applications for 2026, special attention was also paid to projects that support minority groups, promote health equity, and advance innovation in prevention and health promotion.

The Minister awarded the grants based on proposals from the Public Health Fund's board, which assessed the applications according to their alignment with the fund's role. The expert councils of the Directorate of Health had previously evaluated all applications received. The Directorate of Health is responsible for the daily administration and accounting of the Public Health Fund.

The role of the Public Health Fund is defined in the Medical Director of Health and Public Health Act and in the Ministry of Health's Public Health Policy (Icelandic).
