Public health indicators are now accessible in an interactive dashboard (Icelandic), which displays all measurements of public health indicators since they were first published. The measurements are published for the whole country and each health region.

The new dashboard aims to improve access to public health indicators and shed light on their development from year to year. It is planned to update the dashboard as new measurements are made. The next annual publication of public health indicators is scheduled for September 2023.

Since 2016, the Directorate of Health has published public health indicators, which are a collection of indicators that provide clues as to the health and well-being of the nation. They are presented to provide an overview and to make it easier for healthcare providers and local authorities to analyze the situation in their districts so that they can work systematically to improve the health and well-being of the residents.

The Directorate of Health publishes annually 44 public health indicators by health region. The indicators are divided into three chapters; Society, Lifestyle and well-being, and Health and diseases. Further discussion and definitions can be found in Public health indicators by health districts - discussion and definitions (Icelandic).
