Antibiotics Awareness Day

-Automatic translation

In observance of Antibiotic Awareness Day, the Chief Epidemiologist will host a seminar on Tuesday, 18 November 2025, from 13:00 to 15:00 at Directorate of Health, Katrínartún 2. Remote attendance via Teams will also be available. This year's seminar theme focuses on nursing homes.

The 18th of November is specifically dedicated to antibiotic awareness by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). On the same day, the World Health Organization (WHO) will launch its awareness week on the proper use of antibiotics. This campaign aims to remind the public, governments, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders of the threat posed by the global spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.

Please register by 14 November 2025 by email to juliana.hedinsdottir@landlaeknir.is and specify whether you intend to attend in person or join the meeting via stream. Links to join the meeting will be sent to registered participants closer to the date.
